The Bruins are looking to avenge four straight playoff defeats, including three series sweeps by Montreal, but history is on Montreal's side: Boston hasn't won a playoff series against the Habs in 45 years. • The Bruins defeated the New Jersey Devils four games to three, to advance to the Stanley Cup finals against Edmonton. The Oilers won in four straight games to capture their fourth championship.
• On May 24th, during the scheduled fourth game of the finals, a power failure at the 16:37 mark of the second period suspended play. Game four was replayed in Edmonton two days later.
• In 1989, Montreal and Boston faced off again in the division finals. The Canadiens won four games to one, eventually making it to the finals against Calgary.
