Rider pride

Broadcast Date: Nov. 24, 1989

Surprising everyone, the Saskatchewan Roughriders are contending for their first Grey Cup in 13 years, meeting the Hamilton Tiger Cats in Toronto. Just a few years ago, the team was $1 million dollars in debt and struggling to stay alive. But Rider pride came through, and after fan-supported auctions, telethons, and dinners, the team made a recovery. The Roughriders are the beloved team of the Prairies, and have been since the days when farmer fans would trade bushels of wheat for season's tickets.
