Boyd Gang captured

Broadcast Date: Sept. 16, 1952

Canada's largest manhunt has just ended. Eight days after their escape, the four fugitives are spotted hiding in a North York barn, just 24 kilometres from the jail. Police swarm the barn, and all four men are arrested without incident. Back at the North York police station, CBC Radio's Norman DePoe speaks with Const. Ernest Southern, the man who captured cop-killer Steve Suchan.

• After fleeing the Don Jail, the Boyd Gang holed up in a barn near Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. north of Toronto. The men were armed, but after eight days on the run they were fed up, and offered no resistance. They did not escape again.
