Expodition: Peter Ustinov does Expo 67

Broadcast Date: Aug. 8, 1967

Peter Ustinov is so impressed with Expo 67, he's come back with his family for a second visit – and may yet return a third time. Expodition catches up with the actor and writer at the Cuban pavilion, where he extols the generous layout and healthy feeling of Expo's "splendid site." The wide-ranging conversation then moves on to America's animosity to Cuba, the politics of Mao and De Gaulle, and the delights of the British pavilion.

• In a cross-Cuba contest, bartenders voted for a newly created cocktail, El Centenario, to be served at the Cuban pavilion at Expo 67. A visitor described it as a "double rum and grenadine mixture.
• U.S. Customs agents were advised to warn American visitors to Expo 67 not to purchase souvenirs from the Cuban pavilion. Such a purchase – or even on-the-spot consumption of food, drink or cigars from Cuba – contravened the Trading with the Enemy Act.
