Front Page Challenge
Newsmaker Rick Hansen
Broadcast Date: Dec. 18, 1987
After being appointed Commissioner General to the Canada Pavilion which will be at Expo '88 in Australia, Rick Hansen fulfils a rite of passage of all Canadian newsmakers by appearing on Front Page Challenge. Hansen doesn't have much luck in stumping the panel though, as it takes the savvy Pierre Berton 43 seconds to correctly guess his identity, while guest panellist Carole Taylor instantly identifies the story. After the break, Hansen sits down with the panel to talk about the Man In Motion Tour.Newsmaker Rick Hansen
• "In the 31 years we've been on the air, we've had a lot of famous people, but I can't think of anyone who's paid us a greater honour in being with us." — Front Page Challenge host Fred Davis on Hansen's appearance on the show
• Hansen was named Newsmaker of the Year in 1986 by the Canadian Press.
• Former journalist Carole Taylor worked in the media for over 20 years — including a stint as the first host of CTV's Canada A.M. — before Prime Minister Jean Chrétien appointed her chair of the CBC/Radio-Canada's Board of Directors in 2001.
