Expodition
In Canada's centennial year, the city of Montreal played host to the world with Expo 67. "Man and His World" was the theme of the 1967 world's fair, a six-month celebration that drew 50 million visitors to a site on three artificial islands in the St. Lawrence River. Broadcast from Expo's International Broadcasting Centre, Expodition was CBC Radio's daily guide to the pavilions, the people, the pleasures and the problems of Expo 67.

These are just a few of the famous people to have been captured in dramatic black and white by Yousuf Karsh, an Ottawa photographer who's become famous in his own right. On the CBC Radio program Expodition, a reporter takes listeners on a tour through Karsh's portraits at the Canadian Pavilion at Expo 67.Expodition: The incomparable Karsh
• Yousuf Karsh, was born in Turkey of Armenian descent in 1908. He immigrated to Canada in 1924 and apprenticed as a photographer in Ottawa under his uncle and, later, in Boston. In 1932 he returned to Ottawa. Over his 60-year career he would photograph about 11,000 people, including world leaders, great artists and film stars.• In 1947, Karsh became one of the first to receive a certificate of Canadian citizenship.
