Summary
Using a variety of Web-based resources, students will create a multi-media presentation depicting a road trip along the Trans-Canada highway.
Duration
3 to 4 lessons
Purpose
To identify regional elements of Canada’s topography, society, and history

Before Exploring
The development of the Trans-Canada Highway has made the country accessible from coast to coast. Given the diversity of our nation in terms of geography, economics, and politics, a road trip from east to west would entail wide-ranging experiences.
Outline the Opportunity
Students will create a multi-media presentation of five or six stops along the Trans-Canada Highway. At each stop, students will identify specific interests such as the landscape, the people, historical sites, geographic wonders, and so on.
Revisit and Reflect
Each group will present to the class, promoting reasons for visiting their chosen stops. After all the presentations, take a class vote on the top five destinations the students would like to visit. Discuss the value of the Trans-Canada Highway in uniting Canada.
