Summary

Using a variety of Web-based resources, students will investigate and prepare a multi-media presentation about a Canadian who has made a difference in the entertainment industry.

Purpose

To investigate the life and career of a famous Canadian entertainer

Before Exploring

Many Canadians, such as Norman Jewison, have become dominant members of the American entertainment industry. Some of the biggest names in Hollywood hail from Canada and many of them have changed the face of entertainment. Though many have become more American than Canadian, Jewison and others remain proudly and loudly Canadian, returning home frequently and supporting the arts in Canada.

Outline the Opportunity

Students will research the life and career of one famous Canadian entertainer and create a multi-media presentation about that person. Presentations can include pictures, text, video, original artwork, audio, and so on.

Presentations should include an assessment of the entertainer’s contribution to the entertainment industry and of their contribution, if any, to Canadian culture.

Revisit and Reflect

Have students deliver their presentation to the class. Students should be prepared to speak briefly about the life and career of the person they profiled.
