Before Exploring

Outline the Opportunity
Have students view Clips #1, 5, and 9, and the Additional Clip “Morgentaler’s motivation” on the topic Dr. Henry Morgentaler: Fighting Canada’s Abortion Laws on the CBC Radio and Television Archives Web site. As they view, students will record, word for word, quotations from or about Morgentaler.
After viewing, students will select the five quotes they found the most interesting or intriguing. Students will create a collage incorporating these quotes and illustrating them in any way they wish.
Have students share their collage and explain why they chose their quotes and what the collage expresses.
Revisit and Reflect
Students will choose one quote from their display and write a response, agreeing or disagreeing with what is said.
Extension
Students can create an illustrated collage of quotations with their original thoughts on an issue important to them.
