Lesson Plan
Before Exploring
If students have completed the activity David Suzuki: Just the Facts, have them review as a class what they have learned about Suzuki. If they have not completed the activity, they can do so now. Alternatively, give students about 30 minutes to browse the topic David Suzuki on the CBC Radio and Television Archives Web site and ask them to list 10 pertinent facts about Suzuki.
Outline the Opportunity
Independently, students should list key questions that they think an audience would want to know about Suzuki and his work.

Direct students to the topic David Suzuki on the CBC Radio and Television Archives Web site. Have them find answers to their questions by examining any clips they have not yet opened, or by revisiting those that they think might help them.

Using their findings, students will create an outline for a multi-media profile of Suzuki. With a partner, ask students to select the 10 minutes of archival footage from the Web site that best represent the information they want to share about Suzuki. Students should list the clips or portions of clips they want to use and in what order, and write and show the location of any voice-over information they would add.

If there is time, students can conduct additional research using resources of their choice.

Revisit and Reflect
Have students share their profile outlines with the class and explain why they thought the clips they chose were the most important to tell their story. Encourage students to discuss and compare the profiles.
Extension
Students can create their profiles using illustrations or still photographs from magazines, or by having several volunteers act out the information in the chosen clips. These profiles should also include the voice-over information that students have written.
