'Tis, literally the last word in Frank McCourt's Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela's Ashes is also the title of his next work, a follow-up to its bestselling predecessor. As 'Tis dominates the bestseller lists in 1999, McCourt sits down with Evan Solomon and reveals the vital gift he inherited from his troubled father. He also discusses how the American dream turned out for a poor Irish lad.

• Frank McCourt never attended high school, but still won a place at New York University. He later taught creative writing in New York public schools. His third memoir, Teacher Man, recounts his teaching experience.

• Frank's brother Malachy followed in Frank's footsteps, also leaving Ireland for New York City, albeit several years later. He also penned two memoirs, A Monk Swimming and the follow-up Singing Him My Song.

• Frank McCourt died on July 19, 2009 after a short battle with skin cancer. He was 78.
